I don’t excuse Grunt’s racism, just teach him better.

Grunt was raised in a tube and was constantly conditioned towards one bigoted way of thinking, whereas Ashley knows better and has been around aliens her whole life and still thinks humans are better.

The conditions surrounding the two are quite different.

Excuse me, but, no, actually, Ashley has NOT spent her whole life around aliens. That’s part of the point of her character and her character development. She’s had crap assignment after crap assignment, her posting on the Normandy is her first opportunity to be out among the non-humans. First contact happened a year before she was born. And she had to deal with the stigma of being Admiral Williams granddaughter, the granddaughter of the man who surrendered to aliens. Her ‘racism’ is caution, because the Normandy is a ship of the line, and there’s a turian cowboy cop (Pallin had to reign him in regarding Saren, she was there when Garrus told him to ‘stall the Council’), a krogan mercenary, and a quarian, a species with a reputation for vagrancy and theft, deserved or not, on board the most advanced ship in the Alliance fleet. She has every right to be cautious because these are unknowns. In the event she kills Wrex, it’s not because he’s krogan. It’s because he’s pulled a gun on her commanding officer and Shepard can’t talk him down.

Ashley at no point says that humans are better. That’s Cerberus you’re thinking of. Cerberus is out for human dominance of the galaxy. Ashley just says that the other races will put their needs ahead of humanity’s. And you know something? She’s RIGHT. When the Reapers invade in ME3, what’s that Councilor Tevos says? ‘The cruel and unfortunate truth is that while the Reapers focus on Earth, we can prepare and regroup.’

We are drawn to these conclusions because everything around us is negative. We can’t like something without someone else storming through saying how bad it is and how awful we should feel for liking it.

like me, I like the concept of the Xbox One, but damn the negativity surrounding it just sours it for me. that goes for any game too.

If you like a thing that everyone else likes you get support

you like something different, you get bashed and poked and prodded like some escaped lab experiment.

So much this. I can’t stand it! I didn’t realize me saying “omg I love this thing” is an invitation for someone to butt in and say “oh gods that thing sucks because xyz.” Sure, someone might not like a thing I like, but is it so hard to be all “oh cool, I don’t care for that thing myself, but you clearly like the thing, neat!” or something idk

Like me, I’m not so excited about the Xbox One, though I can see how some of the concepts are really intriguing. For me, it was the concentration on the TV aspect that threw me, which, gotta say, is fricken awesome. But I wanna know more about game functionality and am bummed by the lack of backwards compatibility (like will I need to keep my 360 to continue to play all the Mass Effects, including multiplayer?).

Not so hard to not rain on someone else’s parade.

As for the Xbox one I think the lack of backwards compatibility and the issue with the headsets will cause some problems for the market, but game wise, they have next to amazing graphic abilities, but so will the PS4 (which also wont have backwards compatibility. seems they are stretching for full digital availability now and less disk based. Which is okay, but thats how most of the gaming companies are founded.

Oh, I see. Well, if I can somehow prove I owned a hardcopy of Mass Effect or Dragon Age in order to download it to the Xbox One without paying extra, that’ll be really cool! The graphics do look pretty ballin, pretty exciting.
